Information
Shipping
Prices are shown in pounds (£) by default for browsing; you can switch the display currency in the header if you prefer. Exact options and the amount you pay appear at checkout — payment is always in British pounds (GBP) via Stripe. Rates are based on Royal Mail tracked services, with a small packaging and handling buffer.
Where we ship
We currently ship to three markets only:
- United Kingdom
- Europe (EU countries, plus Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and a few nearby destinations offered at checkout)
- United States
We do not currently offer checkout shipping to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or other destinations outside those markets. If you need delivery somewhere else, contact us before ordering — we may be able to arrange a custom quote, but it is not guaranteed.
How shipping is priced
All prices on the site and at checkout are in British pounds (GBP). Shipping is based on Royal Mail tracked services, with a small packaging and handling buffer so fragile vintage pieces can be packed safely.
Checkout shows a base rate for the first item, then a smaller extra amount for each additional item in the same order (when that applies). The shipping line in your order summary updates as you change country or bag size.
Indicative starting rates (exact options appear at checkout):
- United Kingdom — from about £4.50 for standard tracked; next-day options may be offered where available (for example around £7.95).
- Europe — from about £14.95 for the first piece, plus about £4.00 for each extra item in the same order.
- United States — from about £24.95 for the first piece, plus about £8.00 for each extra item in the same order.
These are flat checkout profiles, not a live Royal Mail weight calculator. Most normal vintage pieces fall within these bands. Very heavy or oversized pieces are different — see “Heavy or oversized pieces” below.
United Kingdom
UK orders usually travel with Royal Mail tracked services. You choose the available option at checkout. Orders are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days after payment (excluding weekends and UK bank holidays). Delivery within the UK is usually a few working days after dispatch for standard tracked; next-day is faster when that option is selected and available.
Europe
European orders ship by international tracked post. Transit time varies by country and can take longer than UK delivery — often on the order of about one to three weeks after dispatch, though some destinations arrive sooner and customs delays can make others slower. You will receive tracking when the parcel is sent.
Import VAT, duties, or handling fees may be charged by your local carrier or customs authority. Those charges are not collected by TonyFairytaleShop at checkout and are the buyer’s responsibility.
United States
US orders ship by international tracked post (Royal Mail World Zone 3). Transit usually takes longer than UK delivery — often on the order of about two to four weeks after dispatch, depending on the carrier handoff and customs. Tracking is provided when the parcel leaves us.
Any US customs duties, import taxes, or brokerage/handling fees are the buyer’s responsibility and are paid to the carrier or customs — not to the shop at checkout. US trade and duty rules can change; please allow for that when ordering.
Dispatch, tracking & updates
- Payment must clear before we pack and send. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe.
- Most orders leave within 1–2 working days. Larger, fragile, or multi-item orders may take a little longer — we will keep you informed if there is a delay.
- When your order ships, you receive a shipping update with tracking (and signed-in customers can also see tracking on their order page).
- Tracking often shows limited detail until the parcel reaches your local postal network. That is normal for international Royal Mail services.
Tax, customs & DDU
Product prices and shipping at checkout are in GBP. We do not collect import VAT, customs duties, or local taxes at checkout for international orders.
International parcels ship delivered duty unpaid (DDU). That means:
- Your card is charged the shop total (items + shipping ± discount) in GBP at checkout.
- If your country requires import VAT, duty, or a carrier handling fee, that is billed separately by customs or the delivery company when the parcel enters your country.
- Refusing a parcel because of unexpected customs charges does not automatically entitle you to a refund of shipping or return costs — please read customs expectations before ordering. See also our FAQ and returns policy.
Heavy or oversized pieces
Checkout rates assume typical small-to-medium vintage parcels. Cast-iron cookware, large glass, stone, or unusually heavy/oversized pieces may need a heavier Royal Mail or courier service than the standard checkout band. In those cases the real postage can be higher than the flat rate shown.
If a listing looks especially large or heavy, please message us before you buy with the item name and your country. We will confirm whether the checkout rate is enough or quote an adjusted shipping amount. Ordering a clearly oversized piece without checking may mean we need to contact you to arrange a top-up before we can despatch.
Packaging
Fragile and heavy pieces get extra protection. We use protective wrap and sturdy outer packaging, and we reuse materials where it stays safe and tidy. Multi-item orders may be packed in one parcel or more than one, depending on what travels safely together.
Address accuracy
Please enter your delivery name, street address, town/city, postcode/ZIP, and country carefully. We cannot be responsible for delays or failed delivery caused by an incorrect or incomplete address. If a parcel is returned to us because of an address problem, we will contact you about re-sending (extra postage may apply) or other options.
