Vintage Lock's Scales | British Grocer's Counter Balance, c.1950s

Characterful mid-century British shop/kitchen scales with a gold painted cast-aluminium base and bold red Lock’s Scales decal to the front. The beam carries two aluminium pans (large flat pan and small pan) and the set comes with a handful of pre-decimal avoirdupois weights—great for styling a pantry shelf or café display, and it still balances for light demonstration. Features: • Cast-aluminium counter balance scale with gold finish & “Lock’s Scales” transfer • Two original aluminium pans (large + small) • Weights: one cast-iron 4 oz (approx.) plus brass cup weights 2 oz, 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz (as photographed) Perfect for a farmhouse kitchen shelf, general-store display, or as a prop with jars and dry goods. *The wooden display plinth shown in photos is not included. In fair vintage condition: Honest vintage wear throughout: paint losses and scuffs to the base, light surface rust to steel arms, pitting/tarnish and use marks to the aluminium pans, age darkening to the weights./oxidation to pans, all consistent with use.
