Beautiful vintage hand-carved wooden box featuring an intricate geometric lattice lid in a traditional Middle Eastern / South Asian inspired pattern. The pierced fretwork design gives it a lovely decorative presence while still being practical for storing small treasures. The box has a warm, rich brown tone and smooth interior, making it ideal for jewellery, keepsakes, prayer beads, crystals, or small desk items. The lid lifts off fully and sits neatly on top. A charity label on the base shows it was originally sold in aid of Joe Homan Boys Towns in Peterborough, supporting children in developing countries. Pieces like this were often handmade and sold through charity shops and fundraising events, adding a nice story and social history to the item.
