Characterful vintage cast iron horse in a proud, prancing pose, finished in a rich matte black. The horse is nicely modelled with a flowing mane, long tail and simple harness detail, standing on rocky ground and a stepped rectangular base. The back is flat and the base has four pre-drilled holes, so it can be screwed into place as a fixed doorstop, wall plaque or architectural accent along a skirting board, door frame or shelf edge (fixings not included). This is a solid, weighty piece of cast iron with a strong silhouette that works beautifully in a farmhouse kitchen, country cottage or rustic hallway. It looks equally good purely as a decorative ornament on a mantel or shelf, especially for horse and equestrian lovers. In good vintage condition overall, with light surface wear and small marks to the black paint in places, all consistent with age and use and adding to its rustic charm.
